I. Project Overview
GIGA ENERGY is located in Houston, USA, and specializes in the production of American-style pad-mounted transformers, with many products used as supporting equipment for AI data center projects. To meet the enterprise’s need for comprehensive factory acceptance testing of transformers, Nanke Electric has customized a containerized transformer test system for them. The entire set of equipment is integrated within a shipping container, enabling a modular test station to be deployed on-site and completing all factory acceptance tests for American-style pad-mounted transformers in one stop.
II. Maximum Testing Capacity
This system is designed to comply with both international and mainstream North American distribution grid standards, with maximum testing capabilities covering:
35kV, 5000kVA and below
25kV, 5000kVA and below
15kV, 5000kVA and below
4.16kV, 2000kVA and below
Low-voltage side voltage: 0.2–1.14kV
Impedance voltage: 3.5%–8%
III. Test Items
1. Measurement of transformer no-load loss and no-load current;
2. Calculation of transformer no-load current percentage;
3. Measurement of transformer load loss at standard temperature (100% current) and conversion to other conditions;
4. Measurement of transformer short-circuit impedance and conversion to standard temperature;
5. Transformer induced voltage and withstand voltage tests;
6. Transformer power-frequency withstand voltage test;
7. Transformer lightning impulse test;
8. Transformer temperature-rise test
IV. Project Highlights
1. Containerized Integrated Design: The entire system integrates distribution cabinets, variable-frequency power supplies, intermediate transformers, compensation capacitors, measurement units, and other equipment within the container body. Once the complete unit is shipped to the Houston facility, it can be quickly installed and put into operation, eliminating the need for traditional laboratory civil construction costs and significantly shortening the project construction period.
2. One-Stop Automated Testing: DC resistance and turns-ratio tests support fully automated single-wire connection testing. During temperature-rise tests, the system automatically measures temperature, stores data, and performs calculations, requiring no operator intervention throughout the entire testing process, thereby greatly reducing workload and improving testing efficiency.
3. Customizable Test Reports: The system can flexibly store specimen parameters, avoiding manual re-entry; it supports automatic generation of Chinese and English reports in three modes—upon test completion, at scheduled intervals, or at individual test milestones—with pop-up reminders and automatic file archiving, while also allowing for customized secondary development of test reports.
V. Commissioning Information
Project commissioning date: June 2026
Operating status: The containerized transformer test system has been installed and commissioned at the Houston plant and officially put into use for routine quality inspection on GIGA ENERGY’s American-style pad-mounted transformer production line, with all technical indicators meeting design requirements.
